Guest Powder Room Inspiration

  • 27 September 2018

Many new build plans are now including Guest Powder Rooms. They are a fantastic opportunity to go a little wild.

You can forget all the practical restrictions that the main bathroom and ensuite will command, no steam to worry about, limited storage will be required … basically it just has to be pretty! As a space you nip in and out of you won’t tire of a bold statement decision. How do I achieve all that I hear you ask, the answer is simple ……..WALLPAPER.

The Powder Room is a tiny space that should pack a big punch, think about not only the vanity but the mirror, and the lighting. Surprise and delight your guests with pattern and colour, are you bright and cheerful or dark and moody..

I have found these little beauties on Pinterest, saved to my bathroom board for further info.

bathroom design with Brass

  • 24 November 2016

A beautiful simple bathroom worth sharing – mirror cabinest are a must have for any well designed bathroom,  they provide excellent storage for all those tiny bathroom necessities, Lenka Mikova has taken this mirror cabinet to a whole new level of cool by adding Brass.

Careful lighting highlights the Brass, a sparkling contrast to the Matt Black Hexagon tile and simple tap ware. Super thin vanity tops compliment the thin Brass profile.

contemporary Monochrome bathroom

Australian based Minosa Design are the masters of illusion, take a browse through their impressive web site and I think you will agree. Creators of bespoke Bathroom and Kitchen cabinetry the spaces they conjure up are incredible.

It was difficult to choose a favorite to share with you – I can see I’m going to have to feature them again and again..! So this weeks pick is this stunning Bathroom – perfectly described as Understated Elegance.

The brief was for Sharp Edgy Design, a Monochrome palette including Natural materials, lots of storage and a seating area.  The use of Carrera Marble as a designated wet area platform is striking, overlaying the back wall of the bathroom has allowed for the bath and shower niches – and ambient lighting.

Clean lines of the under mounted basins and handle free vanity along with mirror cabinetry address storage and again allows subtle ambient lighting.

Viewed from the room entrance  the Marble topped wall hung storage cabinet doubles as a bench seat and gives a glimpse of the luxury to come.

So it’s freezing outside, winter is here and its HARD to get out of bed in the morning, just for a moment lets imagine waking up and discovering that one of these bathrooms had magically arrived while you slept ….woo hoo!! How different mornings would be, what a delight to start your day here – you couldn’t help but emerge beautiful!

Now all you need to do is decide which one you would choose, trust me it won’t be easy!

Will it be this light filled elegant room with gorgeous freestanding bath and vanity, super simple at first glance but the detail is there

Or will it be this sharp modern masculine room with simple rectangle lines? His and Hers vanities, good mirror cabinet storage, pendant lighting

Or this………. an outdoor shower indoors?? Amazing!!

Well I would be delighted to find any of these but would give special thanks to the night fairies if image number one turned up, how about you?

Bathroom texture

  • 12 November 2014

Stop searching I’ve found it!  This has to be THE perfect bathroom, – actually if you follow my blog you will know that I have made this claim before – sorry!

So often I see bathrooms that have be overlooked in the ‘looks’department and treated as purely functional I do get excited when I come across a bathroom of beauty.

Beatrix Rowe Interior Design of Melbourne have left no stone unturned here

There are soooo many things I admire in this room, the window is obviously exquisite and the clever placement of the full width mirror expands the detail. A great example of a monochrome room of texture – matte  timber, polished marble, the tiny mosaic floor tiles verses the over-sized proportion of the light fitting.

Simply lovely

light filled bathrooms

More bathrooms that are too good not to share, this time it’s the sunbeams flooding these rooms that appeal… soft shimmering  wash of light what a perfect place to unwind in.

In comparison this bathroom is the polar opposite, dark and moody but still inviting right? Look carefully to see the detail that makes it work so well, full width and height mirror with wall mounted taps attached. Strip lighting and of course the wallpaper!!
